Click to Donate

The Internet can be such a wonderful resource for us in our many roles as educators, students, parents, etc.  When thinking about which "TIP" I wanted to discuss today, I had a hard time coming up with something that would help everyone over the holiday break.  So, I started of thinking of ways to use technology to help others.

During this holiday season, you (and your students) can give to those in need through the use of the click-to-donate websites below. It’s free and simple.

• Free Rice - Play the trivia game. For each answer you get right, they donate 10 grains of rice to feed the hungry. http://www.freerice.com/index.php

• Animal Rescue Site - Click daily and sponsors provide food and care to homeless animals. http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=3

• Lemons for Literacy - Similar to Free Rice. Improve your vocabulary while "squeezing lemons" to provide literacy resources. http://www.readinghorizonsathome.com/lemonsforliteracy/

• The Hunger Site - Click daily and sponsors pay for cups of food. http://www.thehungersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=1

• The Literacy Site - Click daily to provide free books to children.
